Chapter One: Meat.

Shilo kicked an empty can of coke roughly and she stormed down the near empty streets of Viler, the time was around 11pm and everyone was either inside their houses or in the local pubs getting drunk. Friday night really was a lively night, and Shiloh hated it, she enjoys being alone and walking by herself. She sighed and stopped off at the corner shop, going in quickly to buy a can or Dr.Pepper.

Alas, there was someone already inside the shop buying a lot more than one can of Dr.Pepper. Jared scratched the side of his head as he counted out change in his hand, his wallet under one arm. "I should have the thirty five pence here somewhere.. Bear with me." He said with a light laugh to the female shop assistant who nodded and continued to pack away his groceries into a couple of plastic bags. "Here you go. I was able to rid my wallet of some shrapnel after all." Jared said with a smile as he handed the girl two notes and the change. When he felt another person behind him however, he looked over his shoulder at Shilo, giving her an apologetic smile immediately. "Sorry for making you wait. It's one of those days." He nodded.

Shilo just nodded at him and walked towards the woman, paying for her can of Dr.Pepper, as soon as she had paid she cracked open the drink and began to down it in one. She walked back outside, enjoying the coolness of the night air, she looked to her left and raised an eyebrow as she saw a little boy crouched down by the shop wall, huddeled together looking very cold and very lost.

"Thank god that's over.. No food shopping for another week." Jared said breathlessly. He sighed in relief when he stepped out of the corner shop, a bag in each hand. However the smile which had appeared on his face vanished in an instant when he saw Shilo looking at the little boy. "Are you okay?" Jared asked her before he followed her eyes and spotted the little boy also. Jared's blue eyes blinked. "Is he your brother or someone you know?"

"Eh"? Shilo turned to Jared, not knowing what he ws on about for a second, it then clicked. "Oh no..I just found him outside here". She turned to face him, drinking some more of her Dr.Pepper. "Hey...kid..you alright"? Shilo stood with one hand on her hip, she frowned as this kid ingored her, in fact he didn't even seem to register she was there.

Jared also frowned, and he placed both of his bags on the floor carefully before he walked slowly over to the little boy, trying to stay as quiet as possible so he wouldn't frighten him. "Are you okay, little guy? What happened to you?" Jared asked softly, putting a gentle hand on the boy's back when he kneeled down beside him.

Shilo looked at the shopping, she too walked over but stayed standing, drinking her Dr.Pepper. "Hey..kid". She crunched her can up and threw it at him so it hit him on the shoulder. The kid looked at the can and then to Shilo, he then looked at Jared. "I can't find my mum".

Jared frowned again, but it was at Shilo this time since she had just thrown her can at the boy. He picked it up and tossed it into a nearby bin on the corner of the street. Although he missed it, he didn't really seem to care. His focus was more or less on the boy. "You can't find your mum, huh? What does she look like? Were you shopping with her?" Jared asked softly, rubbing the boy's back soothingly.

"My names Alex". The boy spoke quietly, standing up, deciding he liked Jared, he glared at Shilo however, she looked mean. "We're playing hide and seek..and I just can't find her". He looked down.
Shilo raised an eyebrow at the kid, she rolled her eyes and sighed in a bored fashion. "Hide and seek at night...sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me".

Jared couldn't agree more with Shilo. He frowned deeply. "It's far too late to be playing a game like that. Your mum should know better." He told the boy gently. "Alright, let's find your mum. It might take a while, but there's safety in numbers." Jared nodded at Alex and he offered the boy his hand. "Come on, Alex. You can call me Jared." He smiled.

Alex looked at Jared, he then smiled and took his hand gently. Shilo just raised another eyebrow and walked after them as they walked down the street. She looked at her watch, it was nearing midnight. "Surely we could just take you home". She turned to Alex who's face suddenly went pale, Alex ripped his hand from Jared's and started running away from them.

"H-hey!" Jared called after Alex as the boy sped away from him and Shilo. He turned to look at Shilo, blinking at her. "Did you threaten to throw another can at him or something?" He asked, frowning at her before he jumped into a run, following after Alex the best he could, not waiting for a reply from Shilo since he was too worried about Alex.

Shilo glared after them."Hey don't leave without me". She ran after them, how could they just abandon her like that, even if they had only just met. She watched as Alex ran through the gates to the graveyard, she caught up with Jared, her eyes narrowing as she saw him dissapear behind a gravestone.

Jared skidded to a stop at the gates to the graveyard when he reached them, and he wrapped his hands around the bars of them, peering in closely. "Okay, not exactly the best place for a kid to run into, but what the hey, he's a brave kid" He murmered to himself with a frown before he entered the graveyard too. "Come on!" Jared called to Shilo, waving for her to follow him.

"Don't worry". Shilo smirked as she went in. "Gas-Mask wont hurt us, not while I'm here". Shilo pointed to herself and winked, grinning and beaming over how special she felt at the moment, but it was true, Gas-Mask was her friend.
Alex stayed behind the gravestone, hugging his knees to his chest, he looked around, frightenedby the shadows that seemed to move around the gravestones.

Sabrina laughed loudly, leaning heavily against a tree that was along the edge of the cemetary. She was heavily drunk, and her wig had slipped a little from her face so that Ana's light blonde hair peeped out from under the dark black wig that Sabrina donned when she went out to have fun. "Shit.." she mumbled, pulling out a fag and a lighter. She lit it, and took a deep drag, blowing the smoke out of her nose. She leaned back against the tree, figuring she had gotten lost again. "Ana won't be happy if I don't get her precious self back to bed..." She mumbled, taking another drag.

"Alex?" Jared whispered, although he didn't really know why he was whispering at all. Maybe it was because he didn't want to frighten the boy anymore than he already was? "Come on, kiddo! Don't play hide and seek with us now, too; we're just trying to help you, okay?" Jared said, frowning at the gravestones. His eyes moved along each one up until he saw a figure standing on the edge of the graveyard by some trees. "More trouble..?" Jared thought out loud, resisting a groan.

Shilo keptby him, she stopped grabbing ahold of Jareds arm, suddenly feeling a little uneasy. "Can you hear that". She whispered, a weird slushing noise was coming from their left and the sound of leaves and twings cracking. She looked over, eyes wide and nerly fell back when she saw a strange rather skinny figure, twitching and clicking, walking as if every step sent waves of agony through its body."Shit..it's...a...monster". She pushed Jared back, she caught sight of Alex behiund a gravestone and saw the strange demented figure make its way towards the boy.

Sabrina took another drag, seemingly unaware of the monster or the others around her. She blow the smoke out into the air, letting out a long sigh. "Damn, it feels good to be smoking again.." she murmured, glad for her few hours of freedom.

"Hey! You! Move! Don't you see that?!" Jared whispered impatiently and as loud as he possibly could to Sabrina. He didn't know who she was, and he didn't know what this 'monster' was either, but he didn't want her, or the other two to get hurt. "Grab the kid!" Jared told Shilo as his eyes found the 'monster' again.

Shilo nodded and quickly ran towards Alex, avoiding the monster as it swung out at her with a long deformed claw. The claw just missed thme, instead ripping through a cross shaped gravestone, sending chipped blocks of rock everywhere. Shilo ducked down to avoid the rubble, holding Alex so it missed him. She looked up to see the monster now hovering above her, ready to strike again. Shilo closed her eyes, seconds later she heard a ripping noise folowed by the feeling of splashes of blood on her face. "Whu"? She looked up to see an axe lodged in the monsters head, a tall figure behind it breathing heavily.

Sabrina chuckled, flicking her fag into the dirt. She stamped it out with her boot, and sauntered over towards the group. "Thanks handsome," she said with a wink as she walked past the group, heading out of the cemetary.

Jared, who had completely ignored Sabrina, stared in awe at the huge, tall figure which was standing behind the monster. "What the hell is that?" He asked breathlessly, his mouth suddenly becoming extremely dry. His eyes did not blink, and his feet did not move as he stayed planted on the spot like the roots of a tree under the ground.

Shilo stood up and backed off towards Jared, Alex clinging to her tightly, berying his face into her stomach. She smiled and calmed down when she saw who it was, which was odd considering the axe weilding figure was now pacing towards them slowly. "That's Gas-Mask". Shilo proclaimed loudly. Gas-Mask stopped a few feet away from them, his breath heavily in the air, the axe hanging by his side.

Sabrina hummed as she walked, now completely ignoring the children and large looming man as she walked. None of them were good looking elegible females, so she paid them no mind.

"Okay, so it's a person?" Jared questioned Shilo, glancing at her extremely quickly before his eyes flashed back to Gas-Mask again. "He sure is a scary guy. But he saved our lives." Jared said in a hushed voice, as if he didn't want to anger Gas-Mask by merely speaking. Jared didn't like the look of that axe at all.

"Well..I...think he's a person, now you mention it I never really asked, he doesn't talk to much". Shilo shoved Alex off of her and walked over to Gas-Mask, she got on her tiptoes and flicked the eyehole of his gas mask while laughing. "Thanks for saving us, though it is your job I guess". She crossed her arms. Alex crouched down into a ball, shacking all over.

Romeo sighed heavily, his carving knife etching into the skin of the bloodred apple he held in his hands. He sliced off a disc of apple and popped it into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. Ever since he had moved to this new place, he got the feeling that something wasn't quite right. His seperation from Juliet was getting shaky, and he had moved into a small apartment in the downtown area because it was cheap, and of course only temperary. Juliet would take him back. She had to.

Shilo stepped back, she rubbed the bridge of her nose and turned to looked at Jared and Alex."Are you seriously telling me you haven't noticed or the weird stuff that's been going on latley". She sighed, people were idiots, she glanced around the graveyard, checking nothing else was about to jump out and attack them, not that Gas Mask couldnt handle them.
